WELCOME ABOARD

I get so tired of the media and of our elected representatives reducing each and every issue to charges of partisan politics. So this was very refreshing to see.

“Hastert was frustrated and disappointed that he had not been dealt with openly and
fairly and given accurate information. He was not so much speaking to the conference
as he was speaking for the conference.”

Remember how this feels, and how counterproductive this is to producing good policy, then act accordingly when the Democrats are in the same boat. PLEASE!

We are not your enemy, we just have different priorities than you do. As much as I would like to have a truly progressive government, the end product of HONEST and vigorous debate is always something that works and is durable.

Our lives, our future and our legacy are all at stake here. So just straighten up and fly right-ALL OF YOU. Take some pride in your work; this is not a game of cribbage and you are not there to win at any cost

Unless you wish to be remembered (assuming there is anyone on the planet who can remember) as the crew that demolished our democracy, our prosperity, our hopes for a better future.

THE TONE

Bushco slithered into office promising to change the tone in Washington. This is a promise that he kept, but who would have ever guessed that this is what he meant.

IMPEACH!

IMPEACH!

IMPEACH!

MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE LATEST SCANDAL

I saw a blip on NBC Nightly news where they said that NBC, CBS, and ABC spent 122 minutes of air time on the Abu Ghirab prisoner abuse story last week; was that too much? Gee whiz how many minutes did they spend reliving the Dean Scream?

How could rape, torture, murder, and having sex with little boys possibly be that important? I am pretty sure that the final episode of friends got more "news" coverage than that. At least we have our priorities straight. Surely this is not as important as saaay... Lacy Peterson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson's sex with little boys, or even who Jlo might be dating today.

It is more than uncomfortable to ask ourselves how or why our children ended up in a situation where hooding, posing, demeaning, and dehumanizing other human beings who are surely loved by God and by their families; it is downright trivial. Go back to your reality show, whip out your credit card and buy something-anything-do it now!

If we have truly come to the place where our questions about the war, about 9-11, about our environment, our economy and our priorities threaten to demoralize the troops and destabilize our country then we are in a sad place indeed.

If we believe that we are above it all, that we are smarter, better, faster than everyone else on the planet; why are we so FEARFUL of looking at ourselves?

EFFECTIVENESS

"Needless to say, if I felt I could not be effective, I'd resign in a minute. I would not resign simply because people try to make a political issue out of it."

Ummm...

Did not know about that darn plane until it actually hit the Pentagon?

Did not know pre-war intelligence was bogus?

Failure to stabilize Afghanistan.

indefinitely tied the military to a country that never was a threat.

Less competent than Saddaam about getting the lights on

Utter failure to establish proper logistics for success

Neglected to provide employees with drinking water, bullets,
body armor and armored Humvees

Mail delivery worse than during WWII

What kind of liberation is it when children are raped by their incarcerating?

Don, I cannot even begin to imagine what would happen if you weren't effective.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE SUCCESS?

This whole Iraq fiasco looks like a mess to me
It might look better if I had spent years fantasizing
about WW IV... the war to last for all time.

Would I change my definition of success
from progress and healing to capturing
or killing the enemy?

Would I try to hide my glee
when actions that grew out of my policies
multiplied our enemies?

I taste the bile of suffering and agony
and wonder if this would taste sweeter
if I could profit from it until the end of time.
