Torture Is As Torture Does

Blaming a few bad apples while theVeep is out fighting to prevent Congress from taking official steps to make sure that America wouldn't sponsor or commit torture shouldn't wash this time.

Lyndie may be going on trial, but there is a whole new crop of tortures on our payroll.

Can the judges who continue to block the release of the Pentagon Photos be held criminally liable for covering up so that more torture could continue?

Seriously, I am thinking somewhere along the lines of obstructing justice, aiding and abetting. Does anybody else know?

Dog Murderer Should Be Charged With Child Abuse

Oh man this is truly sick.

BOULDER - A Butte man accused of shooting a dog and severing its head with a chain saw pleaded not guilty Wednesday to seven charges against him.

John R. Howald, 30, posted bail after District Judge Loren Tucker reduced his bail from $100,000 to $35,000.http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.quote.gif

"Fortunately, no individual human being was hurt, but at the very least you have to describe the allegations in this case as bizarre," Tucker said.

John Howald did not physically hurt anybody because he his aim was off. He tried to cause physical harm to two other people. The dogs family will be traumatised for a very long time and Mr. Howald needs to be held responsible for that.

About 9 p.m. on Sept. 3, Howald allegedly shot a chocolate Labrador named Gunner after the dog wandered into his campsite near Bernice. Court records said Howald cut off the dog's head and threw the head into a campsite occupied by Mike and Brenda Sullivan of Butte, the parents of the dog's owner.

Howald also allegedly threw a beer bottle at a boy in the same area and fired a gun when the boy's father confronted him. Witnesses said Howald was intoxicated.

He is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, attempted aggravated animal cruelty, tampering with evidence, criminal endangerment, two counts of intimidation and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

I cannot believe he got out of jail so easily.

Price Gouging At The Gas Pump

Governor Schweitzer has asked for the umpteenth time why we are experiencing such extreme hikes at the gas pump when 75% of our oil comes from Canada, 21% comes from Wyoming and 4% comes from Montana.

It is all refined here and never comes within a thousand miles of anyplace that Katrina or Rita did.

Not surprising, but I have yet to hear an honest answer to his question.

Ask The President

How much does a gallon of milk cost? How much is an hour of daycare, a pack of diapers?

If you could ask George Bush any question at all, what would it be?

Something A Little Different

I can't really explain what's come over me lately, perhaps it is inevitable that caring people must eventually look away from the ongoing carnage the Bush 43 team pumps out a thousand times a day.

I have been wandering without aim, but I found Pure Land Mountain, Baby GaGa Pregnancy Tickers, and This, courtesy of Tony.

Homeland Security Fails Again

What was it that Chavez said about us not having an evacuation plan in Katrina's wake? Now it is an angry Rita storming her way into the gulf region and the piss poor planning of this government that refuses to stay out of our bedrooms, doctor's offices and reading habits cannot fucking how to get the citizens, the taxpayers of this country out of harms way.

Why on earth can't we fire them and hire competent people?

Backstabber

Despite the very good points made in comment threads at Left In The West about him following the wishes of Montanans, I strongly feel that common sense and good governance should prevail.

Common sense and good governance should be the priority of all Congresspeople, especially when the will of the people is based on the lies they have been toldas was the situation with the Iraq War.

I learned that everything the Bush machine were saying before the official start of the war was untrue, why couldn't my Senators do the same?

Shine On

For twenty six minutes because people can twist in the water and die, but Junior's poll numbers are too important to be left without professional intervention.

It may be true that, for a week or more, this administration couldn't get a bottle of water to a diabetic grandmother, but when something was actually at stake - what reporters far and wide referred to as the "rebuilding" not of New Orleans but of a presidency, or simply of the presidential "image" - efficiency, coordination, and togetherness were the by-words of the day.

Me anwhile, I am not ready to face a cold winter without heat, are you?

Unhappy President

The official story is that he has a sudden interest in public health.

Is he unhappy that the poor brown people might return and throw a wrench in his grand plan to lighten up the place?
