Malpractice

Governor Schweitzer signed four malpractice reform bills and that makes me a little nervous because I haven't had the time to check it all out, and really nervous because there are five more comming down the line.

I had a computer incident a while back and lost everything so I don't remember where I got some of this information, but here is some food for thought.

  • Most people will not sue if they are apologized too.
  • 5% of the doctors are responsible for 95% of all claims
  • The stock market is a much bigger factor in malpractice premiums than claims paid out.
  • Depriving people of full and proper recourse for damage done does not bring premiums down, it only protects really bad doctors.
